SEVKAR Foundation Commercial Enterprise
The SEVKAR Foundation Commercial Enterprise was established in 2020 in response to the needs identified through a project aimed at migrant women.
The purpose of this initiative is to support migrant women in earning income through home-based production, facilitate the sale of their products, and make their labor visible.
Migrant Women Center Project: In 2015, SEVKAR Foundation launched the “Migrant Women Center” project to provide protection and psychosocial support to refugee and migrant women. Under this project, socially and economically disadvantaged refugee/migrant women from various countries were brought together as the “Migrant Women Group.”
Women were offered the opportunity to produce handicrafts and handmade items using economically accessible materials and easy-to-learn, practical techniques. Through this process, participating women acquired new skills, earned income, and had the chance to participate more actively in social life.
Since 2015, these activities have continuously benefited hundreds of migrant and refugee women. As a result, women continue to produce and earn money using the techniques they learned not only in Turkey but also in other countries they have migrated to. Some women have even started their own businesses or begun earning income independently through online sales platforms in the countries they moved to.
